Applying for Jobs that Interest you

This might sound obvious, but it’s important that you only apply to jobs that genuinely interest you. Whilst you might feel obliged to apply for jobs that sound like they would be good for you on paper, this isn’t going to work unless you have a keen interest in the job spec and field. It will be clear to employers whether or not you are engaged with their subject matter.

When you receive a job spec from a recruitment consultant, be honest about whether you like the sound of it. This will ensure that everyone is on the same page, and that your recruitment consultant learns about your important areas of interest. It might be helpful to provide them with a list of areas that are of interest to you as a part of your CV – you may have a personal statement section, or a section where you can showcase your interests through extra curricular activities or volunteering.
