Changing Fields of Expertise

At some point in our lives, we have to take a new direction in our careers and most likely change the field we have experience and are qualified in.

This is not something that should be done quickly and it should always be a transition from one to the other. The very first thing to remember is that it’s not going to be easy and that you will most likely fail first time around, so always be well prepared and if things do go south get back up and try again.

When you start thinking about changing fields really think about what you love doing in conjunction with what you want to be doing and start building a picture of your ideal job in a new field. Once you have done that, you then start researching more about what is required before you jump in to get the training and skills required to work in that job in the the chosen field.

Try to think about distance learning courses that you can do within your spare time, and balance those studies between your current job without leaving it, as you will need that base employment to get you ready to take that next step forward.

Please be aware that the current global economy is not that great, so make sure the field your planning on going into has a viable future ahead where you can grow. In addition to that be very weary of any online course provider offering no materials in your hands, and also those who are not solely based in your country; Virtual learning in an unstable economy is a very bad idea, because if that Course Provider gets into trouble, they could go Administration overnight and you could lose all the money you put into a course, and all access to the online material and lose grounding with your learning. By staying smart, and choosing a course that leads to a well known certification with materials in your hands, means that even if the course provider goes under you will still have the materials to refer to when learning and continue with your studies regardless.
