Making it Clear you Want to Progress at Work

Progressing at work isn’t just about the quality of the work you produce. It is also largely about your attitude and the way in which you conduct yourself at work. If you have the right attitude and make your intentions clear, you are much more likely to gain success in the workplace.

When you talk to your boss, tell them that you are ambitious and always aim high. Perhaps don’t tell them specific aims – saying ‘I want to take your job’ might give the wrong impression! Emphasise how much you enjoy the work you do and make it clear that you are willing and able to take on further challenges.

It is better for you to show your commitment to progressing, rather than just telling people what you want. Make sure you are highly professional in the way you conduct yourself, meet your deadlines and have a good team attitude.
